Ear discomfort after blowing nose...
« on: September 29, 2009, 10:41:06 am »
Hello, I'm about 5 weeks post translab and have a questions about ear discomfort.

I know my docs said to not blow my nose/sneeze and cough for a while, and I'm being very careful and gentile.  This morning I gently blew my nose and felt a noticeable and uncomfortable feeling in my an side ear canal.  It kinda hurts, as it feel high pressured.

Is this normal?  How long does the pressure feeling lasts?
thanks, Melinda

  • It's not rocket science. Just brain surgery.

I get this a lot.  It doesn't hurt when I sneeze or cough anymore (almost 7 months post-op).  I can not pop my ears, though.  Flying is surprisingly not uncomfortable for me.  I just chew gum.

As I started writing this I realized I'm 8 months post op today. Let's see - I'm still scared to sneeze holding my nose. I am also scared to try to pop my ears. Every time I try a little, it seems like it's going to hurt. But, thankfully, flying isn't a big deal either.

I hope the pressure / uncomfy feeling just kind of works itself out.

I hope you're doing well with everything else.
