« on: November 21, 2009, 10:32:53 am »
Hi all

I want to purchase the "Pin for Single-Sided Deafness" but it keeps asking me to select state and I cant because I am not in america. Anyone know is there anyway I can purchase it?

Denise,

The online order form has two places for your address.

The first is under "My Information", and that one has a State list, but also a Province and Country box you can type in. You should be able to fill in Province and Country and leave State blank.

The second one is under "My Payment", but it says fill it in only if the information is different from the one above. That one doesn't have a Province box, but you should be able to leave the whole thing blank.

Let me know if that doesn't work.

But Denise you ARE in America...North America...
Canada is North America
Unite States in North America as well as Mexico..
I like to confuse people when I tell them I AM an American born and raised in Canada.
And I really throw a loop to those who proclaim they are anti american!!!!
but this is totally off topic...

JO .....

Right on!  It has always bugged me when America and the US are used interchangeably ...... you are so right!

That being said ..... Denise, have you seen the earrings on which one of them is written, "Out of Order"?  I first heard about them at the ANA Symposium last August .... but now I cannot find the information.  It seems like it was a Canadian support group that had designed/made them but I'm not even sure about that.  I was just struck at the time that it seemed gentler than the Deaf Left or Deaf Right pins.  Sorry guys.   :-\

Maybe someone else will remember how to order those if you wanted to check it out.

Hi all

lol Jo since when has the united kingdom been in America? thats all I have to say to u as I really dont understand your post and dont want to start an arguement.

I am sorry if I asked question in wrong area of forum but didnt know where to post it.

Those earrings sound very interesting Clarice, will have a look.

Think I am going to have to find some other way of letting people know im ssd I am having major problems hearing people in crowded places or even at the checkout whilst shopping, just thought people would understand why I dont understand them and keep asking them to repeat themselves if I wore that particular badge.

I trust that we can all differentiate between the nation known as The United States of America and the continent that is North America .

Denise .....

Not to worry, I think JO thought you were from Canada ..... hence, her comments.  You would not start an argument anyway ..... this is a very open, caring, accepting forum set up to support those of us with the common thread of acoustic neuromas (..... and we even have many sharing on here with other types of brain tumors, as well) so no problem.

Re:  not hearing well in crowds ..... this is a major frustration for many of us.  Because my hair is gray I get really upset (inside) when someone brushes me off and will not repeat or says something under their breath that I, of course, cannot hear ..... and I know they are thinking "Dumb old lady!"  However, I am slowly learning that these people are not my family or friends so I usually now can just go on my way and say to myself, "Too bad ...."

Hi all

I am so sorry at my reaction and of course jo didnt no where I am from (silly me).

I think I am going to get the pin from Anac.ca as u can order by email so I can probably pay by cheque.

Clarice Im sure nobody thinks your a "dumb old lady" but I can see that you may be thinking they are as I am always paranoid about what people are thinking when I dont understand, you are a wonderful person and have always been good to me and everone else on this forum.
