Tinnitus Volume

I have noticed that when I experience tinnitus in my SSD ear the volume gets louder when I move my eye to the extreme right or left.  Anyone else notice this or is it just me.

  Yep, I get this too.  I believe it's called gaze induced tinnitus.  I don't usually notice it unless I think about it.

If you do a search on gaze evoked tinnitus on this site, you will find several threads dealing with this.  First time I saw this, I tried it out ..... and yup, about double the volume, but only if I looked in the direction of my AN side.

Wow, that's a very interesting phenomenon. Never heard of that one.

The volume of mine varies for no apparent reason from time to time. It also varies when I yawn (but that's probably a physical thing that just allows me to hear it better).

Yup, I get this also..  I think a while back when I first noticed it, I posted that very same question here..  It's really an odd circumstance when your tinnitus volume goes up and down (and changes pitches) with your eye movements..  Like Wayne, mine gets louder when I yawn too..

Yes I get the gaze evoked tinnitus too. I googled what I was experiencing and found out the name of it. It did say that gaze evoked tinnitus is usually related to people who have AN's. I get it when I looked left and right, although the volume does change with each side. x

I never noticed this before, and in fact, my tinnitus is usually quite low.  For some reason it has gotten louder lately (maybe the cold weather?) but I did notice a slight increase in volume when I moved my eyes to the right just now -- go figure!

Mine doesn't do it.  No change at all in my tinnitus no matter how I move my eyes.  I've tried it over a few different days now and still nothing. 

Hm.  I feel like I was left out of some neat AN club or something.   

The only strange thing I have noticed is that if I concentrate really hard I can make the volume and pitch go down a little, but I have to stay very focused.  Or maybe that is just in my head.  Who knows.

Mine has remained the same no matter what it is constant and quite loud and just wish it would go away......or I could learn somehow to deal with it !!!!

Huh, that's interesting...I have been dealing with the tinnitus about 3 years before I had my surgery..I am 4 weeks post now....the tinnitus stayed about the same, but after I read this, I looked left and then right and back...at some point I noticed a definite change in the volume. Not necessarily in any particular direction, but the volume did drop significantly for a split second as I moved my eyes.  Verrrrrrrry interesting!
