New article - use of lasers in AN surgery
« on: February 21, 2011, 04:45:23 pm »
Here is an article in today's medical news about the use of laser in AN and meningioma surgery. It also has a pretty good description of AN -related disability.

I would love to hear from the patients who underwent this procedure.

                Eve
Right side AN (6x3x3 cm) removed in 1988 by Drs. Benjamin & Cohen at NYU (16 hrs); nerves involved III - XII.
Regrowth at the brainstem 2.5 cm removed by Dr.Shahinian in 4 hrs at SBI (hopefully, this time forever); nerves involved IV - X with VIII missing. No facial or swallowing issues.

Interesting article.  I hope someone else can tell us more about this from a patient standpoint.  It is always exciting to know that new advances are constantly being made in all medical treatment areas.

Very interesting article. It would be great to talk to someone who had their AN removed using this new technique. It sounds promising!
