Great news!
« on: April 30, 2011, 06:45:53 pm »
I am so excited! I have not posted this for fear of jinxing it but........drumroll please........ My surgical wound has finally healed. During the first week of April, there were no open spots and my wound care specialist was so pleased. I was elated. He warned me that it will likely bleed from time to time and he was right. But just a dab of neosporin and some tlc did the trick. I have not worn a headband and wound dressing for 4 weeks and I can't tell you how good feels.

And another milestone this weekend. I bought a new bike and took a maiden voyage a few hours ago. It felt great. I had stopped riding before my AN was diagnosed in November of 2008 because my balance was so bad. I look back at the last several years and cant believe how far I've come.

Did I mention how cute this bike is? And of course, the helmet matches!

Hope my forum friends are ok! Just had to share!!!

Hi, Kathy ~

Late to the thread but want to offer my congratulations on the healing - and the new bike!  Looks like better days, ahead.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.
