Jim: Possibly the difference between your surgeon and my orginal surgeon is mine did not attempt to save any of the entangled nerves and he removed them totally (my MRI reports always state these nerves are "grossly absent") and this may be why some doctor's venture to say "I think I got it all out" verse knowing they left about 10% in or something like that. The unfortante part is nothing is perfect and I think a surgeon would be setting himself up to say he diffenately got it all verse "I think I gopt it all".
When I say he removed the associated nerve I mean he cut them off within mm of where they come out of the brain itself, there's little stubs there.

1st AN surgery @ age 23, 16 hours
Loss of 7-10th nerves
mulitple "plastic" repairs to compensate for effects of 7th nerve loss
tumor regrowth, monitored for a few years then surgically removed @ age 38 (of my choice, not medically necessary yet)
