Hi All...Still here in Pittsburgh...home of the PiratesÂÂ
(and Steelers)...
1. Chris is doing great ! The doctors and PT persons all agree that he is progressing very well.
2. Today he had a gold weight implant. His little eye is swollen. I didn't think the eye or mouth droop was that bad but the doctors said that it was their experience with young people that the "droops" happen later. He wears his moisture chamber at night...told him he looks like Johnny Depp.
3. He is walking fairly well with help. He isn't dizzy at all and that amazes me.
4. He is eating regular foods but he still is having trouble with water. Hopefully that will come back soon so he needs thickened liquids until he passes the swallowing test.
5. His hair is so long and he has scars all over his head from all 5 surgeries. We can't cut or wash his hair. We can't wait to trim him up.
6. He seems to be getting stronger every day so I can tell all those prayers are working. The novena to the Infant child is truly miraculous too. You know, they almost sent him home on a Friday but I kept telling the nurses, something is wrong. Fortunately, a community nurse was not available that day so they had to keep him and that night he had an emergency surgery for hydrocephalus. The prayers worked for us, he surely would have been in trouble at home.
7. Speaking of home, we may go home to a rehab center nearby TOMORROW ! He will get 3 hours of intense therapy as an inpatient, then as an outpatient. The PT told him today that he was progressing fast so it's looking good.
Taylor, I'll tell him to contact you when he is feeling better. you can share stories. Best of luck to you and Chelsea.
