Lisa/Cinnamon Update
« on: July 24, 2006, 11:05:01 am »
I talked with Lisa this morning. She had her surgery last Thursday which lasted 9 1/2 hours. They were able to preserve her hearing nerve, but the tumor had wrapped around the facial nerve, stretching it, so facial paralysis has set in. Her surgeons were glad they performed the surgery when they did, as waiting any longer would have made things more difficult.  She sounds really great and upbeat, she is having an MRI today and will get her head bandage off tomorrow and then will hopefully be heading home later in the day. She is not experiencing much pain since surgery and is happy that this part of the AN journey is behind her.

Lisa says "hi" to all and she is sorry that her hubby was not able to post her update, because he has been staying with her. Her dog Cinnamon is really anxious to get mommy back home!

Please continue to keep Lisa in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.

Thanks for the good news about Lisa's (mostly) successful AN surgery.

Sorry to learn that she had a complication that resulted in some facial paralysis.  Hopefully, the facial nerves were left intact and she will regain movement, in time.  Coming home will certainly help her recovery as will getting that bulky, uncomfortable head bandage off!  I hated that thing and begged my doctor to remove it.  He finally did, but only after 3 days.  I guess I was luckly...although I didn't get released from the hospital until my 5th day.

 Congratulations  Lisa!
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Hi Lisa,

Hope you are feeling better every day.
Don't expect to be feeling too good for a couple of weeks.
Get lots of rest; let the meds wear off and get out of your system.
Before you know it, you will be feeling more like your self.
It is a relief to have the surgery behind you.
Take care, and we'll be waiting to hear from you soon.

Best wishes, thoughts, prayers, and hugs,
Mtn Gal
