Syringing bad ear
« on: July 06, 2012, 11:55:32 am »
I had a full feeling in my "bad" ear. (I was diagnosed with having a possible meningioma about two weeks and am waiting to see a specialist) I tried syringing my ear a couple of times and after each time, I noticed that I can hear a bit better. I know I still have hearing loss due to the meningioma but am wondering if anyone had the same reaction.  After syringing, though, I find I have a strange whooshing noise in my head when I move it and am wondering if some of the water from the syringe is still in my inner ear.

I always put a few drops of alcohol in my ears after swimming, turn my head up-side-down, and it always clears.

Thank you for the reply. James. I'm going to try the rubbing alcohol to dry the ear out.  I guess I'm just scared, with this melingioma, that I might be damaging my bad ear. I'm just trying to get the maximum amount of hearing in that ear and the syringing does seem to help.  It's just that every morning when I wake up, the ear feels full again and there's no more wax in there.  Is this going to be my new normal? Do you find that syringing helps restore your hearing a little bit (at least temporarily)?

I am SSD and my good ear is just north of deaf. Nothing will improve my hearing, but the alcohol gets the moisture out of my ear.
