So far so good...
« on: September 30, 2011, 05:00:00 pm »
I had surgery with Daniel Lee and Fred Barker at MGH on this past Tuesday.  Incredible surgeons! and staff! I got to come home yesterday since I did not have any dizziness or nausea or other complications.  The tumor was completely removed, no facial paralysis and my hearing was preserved.  I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome.  I am very thankful.  Tylenol for pain and steroids for swelling.  If anyone else is going to MGH the staff was great.  They just moved the whole service to a new building so you get a nice quiet room to yourself for recovery.  Hopefully things continue to go well over the next few weeks.  Thanks to all the forum support!!  ;D ;D ;D  If anyone has MGH/MEEI questions dont hestitate to PM me.

New girl ~

Wow!  Congratulations on your fantastic AN surgery outcome!  I'm delighted to learn about these positive conclusions, which happen more often than we realize, so thanks for sharing yours.  Does this mean that you'll be able to attend the October 16th ANA discussion forum brunch in Worcester?  We would love to meet you and hear about your experience at MGH first-hand.  Please consider attending, if you're up to it.  Thanks.   :)

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Glad your surgery went so well.  I had mine at MGH and was in the old wing but I could see them working on the new, it must have been pretty nice.  You are very lucky to still have your hearing, one of the few, treasure that.  I am amazed you posted so quickly and feel so well.....congrats and keep up the good recovery work.

I can't believe that it has been almost a year since your surgery. Fill us in on how your  one year follow up visit at MEEI goes. Here's wishing So Far So Good for you forever.
I will be at MGH Neurology Wed. and expect to get off of blood thinners. Everything else has improved nicely.         Peace Dave J
