Seven Year Anniversary
« on: September 06, 2012, 09:09:47 pm »
It's been 7 years today since my surgery. When I think back on how much change I've gone through I'm happy to be where I am today. Right after my surgery I could not move the left side of my face at all. Now I'm able to make a pretty good smile that is almost as big as it used to be. I've adapted to an eye that is always filled with ointment. But I've also started running. It's not scientific proof, but I feel like it has helped my face get back so much of it's movement and even a little bit of feeling.
Even though I don't come to this site that much any more, I want to let everyone here know how much help and encouragement that you've given me when I've needed it.

Congratulations on your continued recovery!  Thank you for the encouragement you bring to AN patients.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

It is what it is

Here is my "7 years later" pic. Sorry, but for some reason I still haven't figured out how to make them smaller.
