Doctors in Dallas?
« on: August 14, 2006, 10:21:39 am »
My husband was just diagnosed with tumor about 3 cm  on Friday. I think I was still in shock when we saw the neurosurgeon that afternoon. We were referred to Dr. Martin Lazar at Medical City. He seemed very knowlegable. Has anyone used him?
I would also like to hear from anyone who had surgery at Medical City and if they felt that they had good care.

Hi!

Like the majority of posts here you will find empathy and support.  Yes, the messaging and absorption of a diagnosis that recommends "brain surgery" as a modality is a heavy message to bear.  I was diagnosed in 2002 by an ENT in Plano an went to Dr. Robert M. Owens, of the Owens Ear Center near Baylor Medical.  He studied at the House Ear Clinic in Los Angeles, which as you learn more about AN surgery is the premier treatment center in the world.  I found Dr. Owens to be bit cavalier and not the best in the way of bed side manner but when you are working with specialists that do this type of work, you need to throw out emotion and go with the best technical expert.  I ended up seeing Dr. Derald Brackmann at the House Ear Clinic who is the absolute best.  I had a great experience, very positive outcome, and no latent problems.  Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more info – Steve (pocono4@hotmail.com)
