Here's the important question:

Exactly how does your policy define "pre-existing" condition?

Quote it here, word for word.

I spent 35 years working in the insurance industry. I'll need to read the exact and complete pre-existing condition provision.

3/15/18 12mm x 6mm x5mm
9/21/16 12mm x 7mm x 5mm
3/23/15 12mm x 5.5mm x 4mm
3/13/14 12mm x 6mm x 4mm
8/1/13 14mm x 5mm x 4mm (Expected)
1/22/13 12mm x 3mm (Gamma Knife)
10/10/12 11mm x 4mm x 5mm
4/4/12 9mm x 4mm x 3mm (Diagnosis)

Every state has an insurance regulation agency, and they define what a pre-existing condition is. The insurance companies have to follow the state law to sell insurance in that state. What is true in Arizona may not be true in Texas or New York. You can probably find a phone number and call your state agency. In Texas if I had been treated for cancer and was cancer free for two years, it is not a pre-existing condition. In some states, it may be six months. If I was cancer free for one year in Texas, it is a pre-existing condition until my 2nd anniversary.

That's true.

But policy terms and conditions in any state have to conform to the laws of that state so a word for word quotation of the provision from his policy would go a long way toward determining if he will have any issues with getting his AN covered.
