The doctor gave me the same estimate -- that I have a 50/50 chance of waking up with a significant weakness, with a 10-15% chance that it may be permanent. His prognosis based on my MRI is that he is optimistic that they will be able to extract most if not all of the tumor with a good chance at a good recovery with no significant weakness. Those were the adjectives he used, so I'm staying as optimistic as possible. It's a "hope for the best, but prepare for the worst" situation.

Sounds like good informed consent, and that you have a very good chance.  Best of luck to you!!!
Dx 2.6 cm Nov 2012, 35% hearing loss.  Grew to 3.5 cm Oct 2013.  Pre-op total hearing loss, left side tongue numb.  Translab Nov 2013 House Clinic.  Post-op no permanent facial or other issues.  Tongue much improved.  Great result!!
