BAHA pairing with Bluetooth
« on: November 17, 2009, 11:24:49 pm »
Hello BAHA users,

Does anyone have any idea whether the BP100 can be paired with any bluetooth devices like blackberry?

Thanks
Shashank

I have no idea.  Can't afford a Blackberry and don't have a bluetooth.

I'd imagine though that you could wear a bluetooth on the opposite side of your head from your BAHA.  There would be little or no room on your BAHA side.

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

I found this on the Cochlear website:

"Using your Baha with a Bluetooth adapter and a mobile phone
You can choose from several Bluetooth solutions that will give you wireless connection between your Baha and a mobile phone.

You should test the Bluetooth products thoroughly with your Baha and mobile phone before purchasing, as sound quality is dependent on mobile phone type and settings as well as the environment.

How to use the Bluetooth adapter with the Telecoil:

Connect the Telecoil to the Baha.
Switch the Telecoil to position T or MT.
Follow the instructions for the Bluetooth adapter. Most Bluetooth adapters must be used with a neck loop.
The Bluetooth adapter will now transmit the signal from the telephone to the Baha, via the Telecoil. "

Blatantly stolen from:  http://www.cochlear.com/sea/using-phone

So, at least it appears that you can "pair" the BAHA with a bluetooth device with the Telecoil accessory from Cochlear.

Pooter,

Thanks for the information.  I use my Bluetooth all the time in my "good" ear.  It never occurred to me to check the Cochlear site for this kind of information either.  Now I'll have to check and see how much a telecoil would cost and how convenient/inconvenient it would be to use.  I really hate putting the Bluetooth in my good ear all the time since it does affect my hearing a little bit.  It's nice to know there are other options.

To be fair, I found that on the Cochlear website in Southeast Asia.  It's not on the American Cochlear site.  My guess is something about regulations forbidding them from saying that it will do something when it's not FDA Approved to do so.  Whether this will work or not really is anyone's guess.  I guess you could spend the $316 on the telecoil to find out.  ;)

It's amazing what you can find with Google, though.  No wonder they're $755 a share.  Heh.

I don't know about the Divino or the Intenso, but the new BP100 has a blue tooth adapter.

It's five years later, but the Baha 4 finally has built-in Bluetooth.
(I just got a bp110 last year, so I won't be able to have insurance cover my new one for a few more years, darn!)
