nancyann: Yes I had the 7-12, I had it done around 4? months post-op from my resection. I was glad I had it done but that wasn't the end of repairs for me so it's hard to remember exactly what help/changes I got from this proceedure alone. I do recall it gave my face a little bit more lift and it made it so I could move my lips slightly up by pressing my tongue to the roof of my mouth, making photo's look a little better.
Recovery from this procedure was a breeze compaired to what I had gone through a few months previous and didn't really think anything about it once I got back on my feet.
Best of luck
Kathleen
1st AN surgery @ age 23, 16 hours
Loss of 7-10th nerves
mulitple "plastic" repairs to compensate for effects of 7th nerve loss
tumor regrowth, monitored for a few years then surgically removed @ age 38 (of my choice, not medically necessary yet)

Kathleen-thank you so much for your response.   I feel better knowing other people have been thru this & thank God it's not like the AN surgery.  I was concerned re: ability to work the tongu, synkenisis, etc. Do you mind my asking what other procedures you've had? Depending on the outcome of the 7-12 jump, I've been looking into facial reanimation - is that what you did.  I appreciate the feedback.   My 7-12 will be approx. 4 1/2 mos. since the AN surgery.   I'm at work now, will get back to the forum later.

Nanacyann: I fascia removed from my leg and put in to give more tone and lift, I had nerve from my leg put in, it's attached to the facial nerve on the good side and runs over to the bacd side, then I had muscle from my leg put  in the the nerve in there hook up so it would made the muscle move. It's a long process but I'm glad I did it, I don't look like I used to but I dodn't look the a stroke victum any more.

Thanks Kathleen - I'll look into the other procedures you've had.  I think they are what facial reanimation is about.  God knows I need it.   Nancy
