My father Diagnosed one year before 4.5 cm AN. The doctor (Neurosurgeon) advised as to removed that by the surgery and he may be in alright  within a week period, so we underwent the Surgery  retrosigmoid/sub-occipital and middle fossa approach on 18.08.2014 (8 hrs operation). After the surgery he is changed into surgical ICU for monitoring. My father open his eyes within hour after reached in SICU. In the same day evening his GCS scale level goes down and SICU doctors immediately took the CT scan and find that  bleeding clots on inside of the operation site and they  informed to the surgeon. Surgeon undergoes to CT films and says as your father conditions is very critical and he has to undergo other surgery but that is more critical and 1% assurances only for his survival. We gave the approval to the second surgery and that also had the same day night itself, this time surgery was 6 hrs. After the surgery he was shifted to the SICU but this time they kept him in ventilator for a week period because some small clots even after the second surgery and some minute bleeding in stem of brain they told your father recovery was too slow. He was 25 days in SICU but slow recovery. he was unable to walk and speak even face difficulty in intake of water. After the month we are discharged our father to home. In home we arranged one physio for his exercise. He got slow recovery but even now also he face the difficulty in balancing and his eyelids not gets full closed.

Please anyone  suggests how to i bring my father to his normal life

Thanks to all

Hello, Im very sorry for your father but idk how many people here can tell you how to bring him back to his normal life. From your post it seems he had lots of complications, complications that most people here didn't have. Healing process takes time, i am 8 month after my surgery and i still dont feel "normal" and i did not have your father's complications. There are exercises he can do for his balance and his eye lids but idk in what kind of state he is, if he is able to do them. My advice is to talk to specialists, follow their advice and take it easy.

Sorry for all you and your dad are going through.  First consult the surgeons, and ask for referrals to doctors and therapists who can help with his specific issues.  Also:

Jackie Diehls is the top for facial paralysis, she might be able to help with his eyes, possibly.  As long as he is cleared for it, look for balance exercises.  I did them for months after surgery, and they helped a lot.  He should get lots of rest, but also try to progressively get stronger with exercises.  Do this under supervision of his doctor, and have the doctor refer him to balance therapy.  And possibly physical therapy to regain strength.  Look for slow progress, and have patience.  He should get lots of sleep, that is when the body heals.  Best of luck and keep us posted.
Dx 2.6 cm Nov 2012, 35% hearing loss.  Grew to 3.5 cm Oct 2013.  Pre-op total hearing loss, left side tongue numb.  Translab Nov 2013 House Clinic.  Post-op no permanent facial or other issues.  Tongue much improved.  Great result!!
