Synkinesis

Middle Fossa Tumor Resection right vestibular schwannoma 12/2015
Due to location of tumor and concern for resection of facial nerve, tumor was debulked only
PROSE Lens for right eye corneal protection
Complete facial paralysis with no resolution at 10/2016
EMG Feb 2016 and Jun 2016 revealed no facial nerve innervation
MRI 10/2016  revealed no grow since surgery  -- remanent size 1.5 x 0.8 x 0.7 cm

Surgeon now recommends complete removal of tumor, harvest of great auricular nerve to be used as "cable graft".  I am concerned about synkinesis and how disabling this might be.  Checking with others as to their success post-cable graft.

There are members of this forum who have had a few different types of grafts.  This particular sub-forum might not get the traffic you are hoping for and you might have better luck posting this in the facial issues section.
Diagnosed June 2014 1cm AN at 47 years of age.  Had fluctuating symptoms since 2006.    6 mos MRI (Dec 2014) showed no growth, MRI  in July 2015 showed no growth.  MRI Jan 2016 showed no growth.  MRI Aug 2016 showed no growth.  I'm gonna ride the WW train as long as I can.
