Eyelid twitching
« on: March 26, 2020, 05:39:58 pm »
Hi,
Like many, I’ve had to postpone my consultation at Stanford.  This past week my left eye lid (An side) has been twitching.  Not all the time, but just occasionally.  Going on for about a week.  Anyone deal with this?  Is this a tumor side effect? Or just a normal weird muscle spasm?

I hope everyone is safe during this crazy time.
Diagnosis 12/26/2019  2.1 x 1.9 x 1.4 cm left side AN, hearing 90%… and declining.
Daily headaches resolved with help of neurologist.
Cyberknife July 2020 at Stanford.  Dr. Chang.

so sorry you're on hold with treatment right now.
I had eye twitching, and my Doc said it's probably just stress/nerves, etc and likely not from the tumor. Obviously, I"m not a doctor so I don't know for sure! But my guess is nothing to worry about.
Good luck.
Vestibular Schwannoma 1.2 cm. Right side.
Middle fossa surgery at University of Iowa on May 9 2016.
Hearing saved.  Face is fine. Balance pretty darn good most days.
One year follow up MRI showed no tumor.
Five year follow up showed no tumor, so I'm in the clear.

Hi,

I am about 18 months post surgery and a year post CK, and i get still get twitching from time to time.  I also get random numbness around my eye, and if i suck on a straw i can make it twitch (if i am stressed).

The months before my surgery, I had issues with my eye. It was ultra sensitive and the eye lid would swell up if I used a different type of soap, and the skin would get very dry. I went to the eye dr and fainted (hit the ground and they took me to the Emerg Dept) so something somewhere was happening, but it is just twitching now. I never had a good explanation, but it was only happening on the tumor side eye, which tells me something.

My dr said it is most likely the nerve getting irritated, its a tight space in there.

+1 on staying safe.

Hi Colorado Alex,

I've had this twitching on occasion both before and after treatment too. Likely some sort of physiological reason but that said, I find the more I'm stressed or sleepless is when it's more likely to happen.

Given these crazy times we are living in, as well as an AN to deal with, all efforts of self-care become more important. Good sleep (a bit tricky for me), nutritious food, some sunlight and less news.

eventually... this too shall pass...

Oh yeah, my left eye twitches often. Join the club! Seems to go with the territory.
