Best surgeons in San Francisco Bay Area
« on: February 15, 2021, 11:43:59 am »
Hi,

I have searched on this board and found some names given as top surgeons in San Francisco Bay Area, but the posts were a little bit old.  I have read on this board and watched some youtube videos.  It's mentioned that Dr. Friedman is the top surgeon in the country.  But he is the Los Angeles/San Diego area, right?  Should I travel to Dr. Friedman's office from San Francisco to ensure the best outcome?  I wonder if anyone has chosen that route and what the experience was like.  Or are there top surgeons in San Francisco Bay Area as well?

Many happy patients have been also received treatment in San Francisco and Stanford (those are two that I'm most familiar with...)

Did you also look on the ANA website for docs in your area?

Wishing you the best!!

I would recommend you talk to Dr. Chang at Stanford.   The advantage with him is he is an amazing surgeon and also heads up the CyberKnife program.   He will, at a minimum, be a great source of information.   I drove from Colorado to see him.
Diagnosis 12/26/2019  2.1 x 1.9 x 1.4 cm left side AN, hearing 90%… and declining.
Daily headaches resolved with help of neurologist.
Cyberknife July 2020 at Stanford.  Dr. Chang.

I had surgery at Stanford on Oct. 17th 2020 with Dr. Jennifer Alyono who is Otology & Neurotology Specialist and Dr. Gordon Li Neurologist. Both where great. My concern was facial preservation since I had already lost my hearing. My surgery was a sub removal with only 20% remaining which I will do a MRI in August and if there is growth I will do Cyberknife radiation at Stanford. My facial nerve was preserved. The staff at the Hospital are amazing! Since that was the height of Covid the staff was very concerned of my safety with minimal outside visitors allowed. After 3 days in the hospital I was cleared and released. My follow up with Dr. Alyono & Dr. Li was top notch. Both, before & after surgery, they answered all my questions with professionalism. So absolutely I would recommend them.
AN 1.4 CM Diagnosed 8/2019
Wait & See but grew to 2.3 CM in 8 mths
10/2020 Sub removal Retrosigmoid @ Stanford
Face sometimes tingly
Balance not too bad most days
Loss of left hearing
1 year follow-up = no growth

Try Steven Chang at Stanford in Neurology and Robert Jackler at Stanford, He is in Otolaryngoloy.  The House Clinic in LA area is very very good as well.
