Titanium mesh plate
« on: March 11, 2017, 05:49:15 pm »
Hi!

I was wondering if anyone had trouble with the titanium mesh plate that they place over the incision site or if anyone had to have it removed?

My AN was removed June '99. Yep I said 99 and then 2014 mesh poked through behind my ear . It flared up again June 2016.  I had another small surgery to remove more of the mesh. Now here I am again with the same problems - draining at the incision site behind my ear. The doctor thinks the mesh was compromised when it initially broke through the skin and now needs to be completely removed.

Just curios if anyone else has had a problem like this so late in the game?

Thanks!  >:(I really do not want to have surgery again ...

Did you ever get the titanium plate replaced ?  Now I’m about to remove it with my surgery to remove some fluid in that same surgical place for AN 15 years ago. Please let me know before I’ll have surgery next week. Thanks

Please let us know how your surgery goes next week, Bp15.  I'll be praying that it goes well for you!
Burning Tongue, Loss of Hearing & Balance, and Tinnitus led to MRI. Very small AN found on 11/23/2021
While watching and waiting, lost significant hearing. WRS now at 12% (down from 100%). Was fitted with CROS system on 3/7/22.  Stable MRI on 7/29/22
No treatment yet.
