Skull Base Institute
« on: March 22, 2007, 04:40:18 pm »
I have a new aquaintance who has a 4.5cm AN.  She was investigating the Skull Based Institute because they are using endoscopic techniques for larger ANs.

Anyone know anything about this place?

Hi, Amy,

Look in the section Microsurgical Options under "Skull Base Possibilities". Also, read anything pertaining "endoscopic" discussion. There is an enormous amount of information there regarding treatment, outcomes, insurance. In fact, yesterday SJWILL had his surgery there and from my understanding it went very well. Best of luck,

Right side AN (6x3x3 cm) removed in 1988 by Drs. Benjamin & Cohen at NYU (16 hrs); nerves involved III - XII.
Regrowth at the brainstem 2.5 cm removed by Dr.Shahinian in 4 hrs at SBI (hopefully, this time forever); nerves involved IV - X with VIII missing. No facial or swallowing issues.
