Intensive care syndrome
« on: April 09, 2007, 11:09:38 am »
Yes - in our National papers last week - there is a formerly recognised
condition called intensive care syndrome (www.ics.ac.uk)
Basically a combination of the life or death struggle,
the strange surroundings - the major drugs used.
Often leaves patients somewhat bewildered, sometimes
months, even years later (What, you mean there were no mermaids ?)
Paranoid delusions are quite common (I DO remember those)
as well as vivid nightmares, strange memories etc etc
Apparently there has been a major study into it
(one call to me might have saved them alot of bother....)
One writer says "I am sorry I was rude to a nurse"
my thoughts were - yes, and I am sorry I was rude
to the one that was trying to kill me too ......
Best Regards
