Blood testing for GK?
« on: May 23, 2008, 09:52:40 am »
I'm not sure that people read in the cyberknife area so I
ll repeat a post from their I wrote.

Has anyone had to have Blood testing for the GK or CK?  SMA7,PT & PTT w/INR
I'm wondering WHY?
I have no disease processes going on except the AN's in both ears and issues with my spine that are strutural in nature and although it's pretty messed up, I can't see why theses test are required.
Can anyone here explain if you had to have them done. Are they required with the Cyberknife as well?
Thank You
Have a Great Day

Hi Claire

I was sent in for blood work after my MRI and prior to my CK because the dye (Gadolinium) that was used can harm the kidneys, especially in those that are having kidney problems to begin with.  The blood test, I believe is to show that our body secreted the dye out of our blood stream and/or to show that our kidneys are functioning properly.

2.5cm AN diagnosed 3/25/08 Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix, AZ
Some hearling loss in right AN ear.
Slight Tinnitus and slight imbalance.
CK scheduled for May 28th! Woohoo!
