The last post (prior to this one) on this thread is over two months old.  Please post again and let us know how you made out regarding finding a way to cover the expenses of necessary AN surgery.  Lots of folks here (Jim raises his hand) care about what happenens to you.

Never give up!!  Have you tried talking to an attorney?  I went through Binder and Binder, disability attorneys, out of New York.  I got their telephone number off the internet and read that they were great disability attorneys.  I got my own records and sent everything to them after talking to them.  They were wonderful and I got permanent disability within seven months.  Not everyone is successful, but they certainly went to work for me.  I am in Washington State and we did it all by telephone.  They have a toll free number and I never paid for anything.  Hang in there and keep seeking all the information you can.  They are right, the squeeky wheel gets the grease.  Good luck!  I will be praying for you.

Holly-bear, When my friend came down with breast cancer she had no insurance having been recently divorced and without the enough funds for Cobra.  We found out through our city health department that she could go to a hospital connected to the state medical school (funded in part by tax dollars).  There are hospitals connected to medical schools in the largest universities.  The fees for treatments like surgeries, radiation, etcetera are set on a sliding scale based on income.  They required a copay in cash each time my friend went for her consultations and cancer treatment and the rest was paid for by the hospital's funds earmarked for persons unable to pay.  Hopefully, you can find out if your state has such a program.

P.S. And to those of you who look for worthy organizations to give your tax deductible donations to please keep these non-profit groups in mind. Their goals are to help people in this country who do not have funds for adequate healthcare. I am a Canadian married to an American who resides here in Oregon. One too many people fall through the system here who do not have financial means. There is no perfect system on either side of the border. When I read stories like this - my heart goes out to people with no healthcare insurance coverage for what us AN patients need. Financially helping non-profit organizations will hopefully help people like our Holly Bear- here. Perhaps we should start making a list of non-profit groups we know of that help AN patients in the USA… Does anyone know of any other links to share?

Contact your local hospital that does the specific surgery you need or your local hospital fill out a finacial aid form or go to your local emergency room thhey can not refuse you treatment .
I  was lucky enough to live in N.H. & apply for N.H. health Acess they paid 100% at any hospital in N.H..It is very odd fo a hospital not to except medicaid.Where are you located?
