Post GK Treatment and Fatigue

Hi!

I am one week out from GK, and I am curious about fatigue.  It seems one day I am full of energy, and then the next day I am exhausted.  Is this normal?  Other than a balance issue that resolved itself, I have not had any problems to be concerned about.  Should you push yourself through the fatigue or rest?  Sometimes it is really hard to get out of bed in the morning.  Just wanted to get some feedback.  Thanks!

Yeah, Nancy, I'm sure this is normal.  You took "quite a shot", as my doctor told me, and there will be some repercussions going on inside your body.  That article on how the balance system works really helps to explain it.  Did you read that?   Your fatigue may be because of the treatment and it just takes a bit more time to get over that, or it may be because the AN is swelling a bit and annoying your nerves and that causes problems.  Or a combination of both.  It just takes a little time to get back on track.    Hang in there!

I am almost 1 month CK and I have had fatique and some other issues. If I am fatiqued I sleep. It is getting better. Phyl just posted a good topic about the mental strength it takes to be post radiosurgery. It was great! I just know that I have to give my body time to heal after such a blast of radiation. Hang in there!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

And thank you to Sue for the article on balance and dizziness. I printed that out last week and gave it to my family... Very helpful.

Thanks to all of you for your reassurance that the radiation is doing a "job" on my body.  I just got home from my volunteer work at Children's Hospital.  I work on the Oncology Unit.  The child life specialist was surprised that I had come in today.  She said kids bounce back faster from radiation that "older" people, and she said the most important part of the healing process is getting enough rest and not overdoing it.  In other words, the seven mile walk I did on Friday was too much.  I felt exhausted today, and my hearing and balance seemed a bit off.  I think I have read here on the board that sometimes symptoms get worse when one is tired.  I'll try to lay off a little tomorrow.

Sher, I did happen to see the post by Phyl.  I will read it again.  Also, Sue, I had read the web site you mentioned before my GK, and it was nice to get a fresher course...THANKS.  All in all, I think I am doing great...just a few bumps in the road.

Nancy, we remodeled our house and Sunday my husband and I had to move most of the furniture back into the bedrooms, clean, dust, vacuum, sort, do laundry, fold, more vacuuming, more lifting and pushing and shoving, and more vacuuming, and cleaning and Monday morning I had a rare day of being slightly dizzy! Yuck. Yep, overdid it.   Our son was going to help with the heavy stuff, but he sprained his knee quite badly, and he's out of commission, so I had to help with things I would have had my son do.  It got done, but I've been a lot slower since Sunday!

WOW!, Sue,  Just reading about all of that work made me tired.  Hope you are taking it easy.  I am chilling out today.  Resting doesn't come easy to me, but I am doing my best to keep it low today.  I decided to pull the blinds so I don't see all of those leaves that need raking.  They will be there for another day....like this weekend so my husband can rake them!!!  Take Care.  Nancy

The fatigue seems to be getting worse.  I am only ten days out from GK, and I am wondering when I will get back to my old self.  Will it be a couple of weeks, months, etc.?  Nancy
