Hot flashes and vertigo: 7 months post-op
« on: October 06, 2008, 08:17:12 pm »
Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone suffers from post-operative hot flashes?  I am 32 and have been having mild to moderate hot flashes since surgery (translab rect 3/08)  and ongoing nausea.  Last week I had an episode of extreme hotness (like I used to have pre-op) followed by severe vertigo (also similar to before my surgery). No vomiting, but nauseous and weak all day. I see my neurologist tomorrow, but would appreciate any community advice!

Thanks!

Karen

Karen~
I had SEVERE hot flashes after my surgery - I'm so sorry, but I don't remember how long they lasted since it was so long ago.  However, I went back to teaching at 3 months and don't remember dealing with them then...Maybe your Dr. will be able to shed some light on this...

Are you on steroids?  I remember while in the hospital (and on steroids) I had some really intense hot flashes and in fact, was warm all of the time.  Nurse said it was the steroids...

Thanks KayBo and MAlegant  for the support and ideas.   I'm still looking for an answer, but my neurologist doesn't think it's directly related to the AN/removal (except that I am more likely to experience vertigo since I only have one vestibular nerve).

This forum has been a wonderful support and I am very encouraged by everyones strength in dealing with their AN's!   Karen

Of course, hot flashes could be, well, you know, although you are way too young for that.  ;)

I am 3 1/2 months post op.  I'm 62 years old....and have ALOT of hot flashes.  Haven't had them in a long time, since I had "everything" taken out at age 35.
This has been only since my surgery, so I really think it is related.
I don't like this feeling at all!!
Diagnosed 4/15/08.
AN - 1.4 cm.  Translab surgery 6-26-08.  SPF leak 7-5-08, and went back into surgery 7 -6-08.
