Hi Mike,

I am scheduled for a late March operation too.     The selection for me has been the same from all opinions as translab since my hearing is gone.     However, I've been intrigued by the endoscopic option being talked about in LA at the Skull Base Institute.     I was wondering if you have considered that option since you still have very good hearing.

Diagnosed 1/14/09 - 2.4cm AN right side --- about 70% cycstic
Retrosigmoid wiih McKenna & Barker - total removal successful on April 13th.
Issues: balance, facial & mouth numbness, hearing loss right side
Results:   numbness gone, balance is good, SSD right side. Great results.

wow! good luck to you in the coming weeks.  we could have negotiated a group discount!  endoscopic wasn't an option given the size of mine and location.  since they all said to go for it, worst case, retro causes a few more headaches and i still lose the hearing.  balance has been pretty bad and looking forward to the day i can pick up my 7yo daughter and swing her around the house.

heading up to mayo tomorrow for a consult (final one)....will see what they say and if consistent with others.
