NF2 takes another one
« on: March 09, 2009, 10:53:15 pm »
He wasn't a poster here but this morning my friend michael "Ghostwriter for God" Gergley lost his battle against NF2. He never could recover from his last surgery and spent several months in the hospital and rehab. He is going to be greatly missed by those of us who knew him.

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Mark,
If I had any tears, they would be falling. Michael was a wonderful person. He encouraged me greatly when I was first diagnosed 7 years ago. He will indeed be greatly missed.

Thank you everybody.
Jeff, Michael was a truly good guy who touched many lives in his too short time here. I wish I could be even 1/3 as good a person as he was.

I finally had a chance to Google Michael Gergley. There seem to be quite a few people who knew him and loved him. I wish I had gotten to know him, I think I would have liked him. I also came across Yvonne, someone who wrote about Michael in a book called "I'm Not Sick, Just a Bit Unwell." I think I want to read that.

My heart goes out to those who knew him, it is a sad ending to a good man's life. My best wishes to Jeff and Mark for continuing health.

Steve,
Yvonne is a young lady with NF@ who lives in Malaysia. Actually she's here in the States right now for treatment of one of her tumors. Her book is a good one and worth reading. Funds from it, and also t-shirts and other things she has designed and sells go to helping her with medica bills. Michael also wrote a few books, poetry mixed in with his life.
