We are home from our trip. The Lady Tigers made a very respectable showing. They lost their first game by just two points after trading the lead during the entire game.
The second game was a convincing victory, by 19 points. #32 made an incredible steal but was fouled on her layup and unfortunately missed her free throws. She was set up for a long pass play from out of bounds at the very end of the game, but unfortunately the buzzer beat the ball.
The third game was another fingernail-biter, but the girls won by 2 points.
The last game was very late, beginning after ten p.m. last night. The girls stayed in the game but ultimately lost by 5 points. One of the girls on the opposing team is sure to be on the tournament team. She scored 41 points and our girls did not figure out in time how to shut her down. We basically lost at the free throw line. #32 had some playtime in this game as well, in the futile position of trying to shut down the other team's shooter.
Our boys team stayed in the tournament a little longer, playing for the consolation championship this afternoon, but coming up short.
All in all a very respectable showing by the Trinity Tiger basketball teams.
In other news, my husband and son were in an automobile accident while I was gone. Thank God, neither of them nor my husband's friend who was in the van with them were hurt, and neither was the other driver. But my van is likely totaled. I was very shook up by the news, coming so soon after my brother-in-law's fatal accident last weekend, plus the fact that I was eight hours away.
Also, my father went back to the hospital and is not doing well. He had a mitral valve replacement last August, and has been experiencing a lot of edema lately. I am going to see him sometime this week and try to convince him that he and Mom need to move to Jefferson City now. If we wait until he feels better, it is never going to happen.
I'm very happy to be home with my whole family safe and sound.
