Numbness...

Hello, I post surgery over 2 weeks now and realized the tip of my ear is still completely numb, and areas around the incision slightly numb.  I recall my doc saying it would come back, but I was wondering if others had experienced this after surgery too.  I guess I have wonky wonk...feels like a weight in my head sometimes that can throw things off balance.

I had that, overall a lot of numbness, and yes on the tip of the ear. Sometimes I wished it'd go away, but then I realized numbness might be a blessing for a little while after surgery compared to the alternative.     

I don't remember when it did go away, but it's definitely gone now (three months out).

Numbness is very common post op.  It's hard to tell how long it will last.

My head - and my ear - were still numb from my AN surgery when I had my BAHA surgery 9 months later.

My AN surgery was a little more than 2 years ago and I haven't had numbness in a while, but I don't recall when exactly it left me; I do remember it took a while though.

I only had numbness in my ear for a short period of time...I still have it (5 months post op) in my cheek...just a little numbness...if i pinch both cheeks, i feel it more on the non AN side....what I'm getting now are these little zaps of electrical currant( only way i can explain it) in my upper an side lip, cheek and under the eye....i'm guessing its nerve regeneration.

For what it may be worth; I experienced numbness on the side of my skull where my AN had been (my left).  I couldn't sleep on that side because if I rested my head on even a very soft pillow, it would feel sore after just a few minutes.  That all dissipated after about 9 months.  Today, I have almost no 'numbness' near the incision site and can rest my head on the former 'AN side' with no problems.  Of course, we all heal differently but when figuring out AN surgery healing, time remains the constant.

I remember my ear feeling like it was not even mine.  I did not like to touch it or the surrounding area!  My dad joked that they put it on upside down 

I am almost 4 months post op and most all numbness is gone.  I would say that it does not feel exactly the same as the other, but 95%.  It still seems slightly numb inside...when I use a q-tip - I can not hear or feel it in my ear, so I am extremely careful!
