Stormy's Surgery Update
« on: April 13, 2009, 08:30:09 pm »
I heard from Girlfriend today re: Stormy's surgery and she asked me to post on the forum.

The surgery was 6 hours.  They could not preserve her hearing, but did preserve the facial nerve.  The tumor had grown and was very stcky, and they stretched the facial nerve a bit, so she's still a bit impaired--but the docs are confident she'll get 100% back.

She had a good day today, lots of walks, began eating, and the good news that she can go home tomorrow!

I'm sure they will be back on the forum soon once they get settled in.

Thanks, Cathy. Must tie up all loose ends. :)

Actually I am glad to hear she did okay. Sticky happens, not much you can do about that. Sounds like it will be a temporary thing.

Home tomorrow is the best news. Best wishes to her.

Cathy -

thanks for the update on Stormy.  We always worry about one of our own.

Yay, Stormy!  Looks like we had a great week of outcomes.  Thanks.
Do we have next week off?  This is emotionally exhausting.   ;D :D  Sorry, whining.

Fabulous news, I was wondering how it all went!

Yipee!
Right sided AN 2.7cm at last MRI.  Hearing loss/facial numbness.  Translab scheduled March 11th 2009.  Translab at Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia successful!  Total tumour removed, SSD, no facial issues, numbness has left the building, balance issues but they'll get better and I'm loving life!

Cathy ~

Thanks for the much-awaited update on Stormy.  I'm pleased to learn that she's doing well and will be discharged, soon.  Going home is always a milestone, of sorts, and one that is most welcomed.

I trust any deficits she's dealing with will be temporary and we'll see her posting here before very long.  We'll all be looking forward to that.  :)

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Great news!  Thanks for the update!  Lots of newly-Posties running around now (ok, so "running" is a bit strong, but you know what I meant)..  :)
