One-year MRI results
« on: July 22, 2009, 11:02:47 am »
Hi all,
Sorry it's been a while--I've been out of the country but now am back. Yesterday had my one year MRI and the results were great.  Not even a shadow of a tumor left. Thank God.  I cried throughout the MRI (not good when you are laying on your back and can't move your head), which I guess means that I was pretty worried, even if I didn't acknowledge it.  Anyway, it's good news all the way around and I hope it gives all the newbies hope.  Last year to the day, I was under the knife.  Today, I am fine.  Some issues to deal with, but otherwise just fine.  I'm now training for a half-marathon in October if that gives you any indication of my physical recovery.  Of course I am turning 50 so that might be a mid-life crisis kind of thing.
Be well all,
Marci

Hi, Marci - and welcome back!  I'll assume your time in Italy was well-spent and enjoyable.  :)

Congratulations on your 'clear' MRI scan.  These are always stress-inducing but you can now relax and celebrate.  Time pases quickly and we do heal and move forward.  I'm glad to learn that you've healed and certainly moved on with your life. As for turning 50, wait until you're my age (66).  From that vantage point, fifty will seem like it was your adolescence.  ;)

Jim

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Marci!

Great, great news!  Like my Momma used to say, "Fifty is nifty".  She also said that, "Sixty is sexty."  So I am looking forward to that nice number!  So congratulations on your MRI results and good luck in your marathon!  I don't see anything halfway at 13 miles!!

Hey stranger,

Nice to see you back, and with good 1 year news to boot. The beach in Italy looks great, though I still like the hat picture best. :)

Marci .....

Great news about the clean MRI!  .... and I agree, in the picture on the beach in Italy you look carefree and terrific!!

So sorry you will not be in Chicago ..... I really am looking forward to meeting my new friends on this ANA Forum.

Have to tell a fun story about turning 50.  On my 50th, my youngest son was a senior in high school and thought my turning 50 was hilarious.  I was the organist in a significantly large church at the time.  At the very end of the service he wheeled the church wheelchair down the aisle with a prominent sign on the back "Be sure to wish Clarice a Happy 50th Birthday!"  What a fun time afterwards.

Congrats on reaching a major milestone birthday!!!

Hey, Marci!  I've been wondering if you'd made it back yet.  The photo is grand!
Sometimes tears are the outlet for a flood of emotions, memories of a year ago when your nerves were exposed, literally as well as figuratively.  They are a great release.  Now you can move forward with the happy, healthy, new you.
Good luck with your training, and welcome back.
