There's a Lou Malnati's within walking distance of the Field Museum.  It has pizza, pasta, salads, etc.   There are also several tapas restaurants, a New York Deli restaurant, several excellent Thai places, and an old neighborhood Italian Trattoria that's relatively cheap (for Chicago) that's a couple of blocks farther.

The Gino's East downtown is on Superior St., east of Michigan.  It has pizza that some consider to be the best in Chicago; it also has salads, sandwiches & pasta, stromboli and many other choices.  Here's the link to the menu:  http://featuredfoods.com/a-store/gino_p3a.pdf    It's very easy walking distance from the Drake.  Sorry, I keep saying walking distance without factoring in people who may have mobility issues--the Lou Malnati's would be about 3/4 of a mile from the Field and Gino's East is about half a mile from the Drake.  Trattoria Caterina is a good mile.  It is a quiet place, with pizza, pasta and Italian dinner items like chicken vesuvio.

I would suggest that you make a tentative reservation wherever you're going, if you decide on Thursday.

The Ginos East sounds good to me--I love a good pizza and it sounds like it has other things, too. I'm packing lots of my tummy meds--I'm ready to PARTY!!!

I am looking forward to meeting everyone. I live about 45 min W of Chicago but will be there on Friday (around 1pm)
I look forward to giving all who have listened to me moan about my headaches amongst other things the last 5 years a big hug.
I will be arriving fully botoxed.  :) My appt with Dr. Choi is on Friday.

I will be staying overnight on Sat and leaving Sunday.  My hubby will be arriving as well but am not sure if we will join the
group for dinner Sat night.  It's rare we get an evening out without my 2 young sons.

See you all soon.

Ditto- just had my hypertonic facial side done a few days ago. Amazing what relief it gives within just a few days after injection

Are we looking for restaurants close to the Drake, or close to the Field Museum?

Sara

I suggested restaurants closer to the Drake.  The Field Museum is an part of an Area called Museum Campus and is quite a hike...like over the river and through the woods (ergh...streets) of Chicago.

All of the ones mentioned are less than a mile of the Drake.

In terms of affordability, it would be Ginos or Maggianos... Rosebuds is more in the 15-25 per meal range.

Here is a link to Gino's!  You can see the full restaurant menu online and it has alot of choices. Yum!  We should make reservations, maybe?

Let's do Gino's. They have a hot dog with fries for those who can't hack the pizza. Or even a Tuscan salad if you insist on being healthy. ;D

Currently on hold with the telephone headset listening to Gino's east recording... from Portland OR (good thing I have free long distance in the USA  ::) )

I am posing to them the "Is there MSG in your food?" question

I'll get back to you...

8 minute later of being "on hold"- they apologized and explained to me they had a full house and they are "very busy this evening" (must be popular!)

NO MSG in their food!  ;D

I'm in
... will bring beautifully knitted hat done by my very favorite Portland OR knitter- so I can be spotted in the full house...

Sounds like we better make a reservation...

Gino's looks great, it's three blocks north of our hotel. Is parking good there, or would it be better to walk from the hotel?

Quoting their website

http://featuredfoods.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.exe/a-store/gino_p7.shtml?L+scstore+bfzx1748ginosff4ef74e+1249618691

"Our spacious party rooms can accommodate groups of 15-300 and has valet parking available for everyone.

* Pricing is based on our downtown location
* Suburban pricing will vary
* Room sizes and accommodations will vary per location"

If there are 15 or more of us could we not book a room?

Sara

Sara,
I suggest the group walks... Parking is always hard downtown and you will probably still need to park three blocks away..
