    • My Caring Bridge Journal
I wanted to invite all of you to read my story on caringbridge.com and to keep an eye on me as I go through what is certainly the scariest thing I've experienced so far in my life.  Feel free to sign my guest book which I'll be reading in the hospital and at home during recovery.  My plan is to update the journal often so that I can keep a record of this adventure hoping it will help me to acknowledge the progress I'm making.   I followed Cheryl's (Another NY Postie) journal as she went through the same procedure and it really did help me knowing what to expect.  Cheryl continues to be a source of constant support and full disclosure.  Thank you Cheryl!  I hope I can have a similar, positive effect on other AN patients here who are anticipating their own surgery or still considering treatment options.

So please do not hesitate to send me a little message (or a big one if you prefer), to tell me a joke or any story that might take my mind off of myself for awhile, and especially don't be afraid to give me a swift kick in the pants if you notice that I'm getting discouraged.  I'm asking for it.  I know that I am stronger than I think I am most of the time.

Much love to you all,
Amy

Good vibes heading to LA for Wed, Amy!  It's a great place to be - you are in good hands.  When you are being wheeled down the hall with all the windows, remember that there are many here on the forum who've rolled down that same hall (you'll know the hall I'm referring to, especially if your surgery is in the afternoon).  I heard about it prior to my surgery, and it gave me an odd sense of confidence and calm knowing that many forum friends had been on that same hall and were all doing well...

I see from your Caring Bridge page that you have family/friends in Atlanta.  I'm just north of Atl, so if you ever get down this way, be sure to let me know.  We'll have a get together...there are a few of us here on the forum in Atl.  We won't expect you for a few weeks or so, though...take a little time to recover first ;)

Hoping for a speedy recovery for you,

Cindy

Best wishes, Amy. Don't worry if you don't feel so good on Thursday, it will take a few days to get back on your feet. You will do fine.

Thanks to everyone here for your constant support and encouragement!  It's hard to believe that only 6 weeks ago, I just found out I had an AN and what the heck it was.  I spent TONS of time on this site learning from other peoples experiences and finding the confidence I needed to confront this bugger once and for all.  I feel very lucky to have met a few of you in person, chatted with many of you online, and received messages of encouragement from many of you I've never had contact with.  This site rules and I couldn't have faced this surgery tomorrow without it!  I'm feeling pretty good about everything right now.  Very anxious to get the show on the road and to wake up a Postie!

Much love and thanks to all you great people!
