Decision made to have Gamma Knife - will be leaving W&W Category
« on: November 07, 2009, 04:04:18 pm »
Hi All:
I have made my decision and will soon be leaving the W&W category. I am scheduled to have Gamma Knife radiosurgery on Monday Nov. 9. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
It has been enjoyable reading all of the comments and posts on this forum over the past two and a half years. I certainly have obtained a great education on the subject and I feel that I know just what to expect. I am looking forward to getting it done and moving on with my life.
Hope to continue participating on the ANA forum in the future. You all have been great.
Frank

Frank ~

Congratulations on your decision.  Many of us will be thinking of and praying for you Monday (9th).  I'm sure you'll do fine.  Please let us know when you've become a 'postie-toastie', as we call AN patients who've undergone radiation.

I added your GK date to our AN Treatment calendar http://my.calendars.net/an_treatments/d09/11/2009?authenticate=&display=M&style=B.  I only had the minimal information so please feel free to elaborate, as you see fit.

Hi All:
Many thanks for all the well wishers and your prayers.
My treatment at Upstate Gamma Knife Center in Syracuse yesterday went very well. The doctors and nurses were just great. I arrived at 6:30 am and it was all over with by 11 am. I was very calm and at ease throughout the entire procedure - most likely because I knew what to expect. I don't feel any different today than before the procedure and will most likely resume my normal activities tomorrow. I do have four small sores on my head where they screwed the head frame on, but they should heal in a few days. All things considered, it was an easy procedure to go through. I will have a follow up visit with Dr Woods, my Otolaryngologist, in about a month. We will probably schedule the next MRI at that time to determine how things are progressing.
I do plan on continuing to follow this forum and would be happy to comment to anyone thinking about having Gamma Knife in the future.
Again, my thanks to you all.

Frank, I know I am late on this but congrats on making your decision..... for having GK done.. and sending wellness wishes to you for a soon-to-be-dead-head-booger (as I like to call my AN).

Congrats on becoming a "toastie postie" (radiated post-treatment)!
