verdict is in!!!!! and so is Steve's hat!!!
« on: November 30, 2009, 12:16:01 pm »
Well then neurosurgeon doesnt believe the tumor has grown.  He said it was the way the radiologist read it...He also stated that he was very conservative going in to protect my facial nerve...The tumor is definitely a different shape..going from looking like a button mushroom to a football....He said he could have taken more of tumor out but didnt want to chance the facial nerve. And knowing that we had already discussed the radiation after surgery type thingy.  So we are going ahead with the radiation but not til after my trips and anothe MRI in May.  He said 'our' hospital has been approved for a cyberknife machine and that they just need the funding now...so hopefully in six months Ottawa will be the second Canadian city to have one.  He also said if it were his nuggin, he would go gammaknife or cyberknife...not LINAC.....and cyber over gamma...
So now, I put this all behind me until next MRI and then on to radiation....and all I know is that the transcript  (surgical) stated tumor size around 1.8-2.0cm...and until I get the reading from the next MRI, really wont know if it has grown...So on with life

i was looking for you 'verdict' on the other post - glad i saw this one!
well, i wish you didn't have to gave any more treatment, but i'm glad it hasn't grown, and you can wait, and while you're waiting you may get the type of treatment you want there in Canada.
i'm glad you're relieved. and also so glad it didn't grow!

Jo,

I'm very happy about this news, but it doesn't sound like the surgeon did a very good job of communicating to you initially after the surgery.

Anyway, enjoy the holidays and you vacations. It sounds like everything is back under control.  ;D

Well, I'm not so sure the news is 'fabulous', but it seems way less scary anyway.  I'm sorry you were mislead with how much was left behind.  How frustrating.

I AM glad and relieved that it's not how it appeared for a bit there......rapid growth.

You have a great attitude!

(hugs)
