Another Postie joins the ranks!!
« on: December 17, 2009, 04:08:38 pm »
Greetings all and am glad to join the ranks of this forum as a postie! What a ride it has been.  It's been eight days now since surgery. I came through it with flying colors.  I had the middle fossa done at house by Brackmann/Scwartz team and was able to save the hearing, no facial paralysis, and tumor totally gone! We all finally left Seton House this morning for a 2 hour car ride back to my in-laws where we'lll rest up a few days before heading on home.  I haven't time nor the energy to really look at all the other posties and and how they are doing (except lawmama) but my prayers are with each and every one of them as they deal with this.  My only real major thing right now is my eye track is still getting settled down, things are spinning a bit in clockwise direction.  But other than that, no nausea! Yayy....ok.  I need to get off this for a bit.  Take care and if anyone wants my link is at the bottom to caringbridge website.  I uploaded pics...take care and thanks for the well wishes!
8.1mm x 7.8mm x 8.2mm AN, Left Ear, Middle Fossa surgery performed on 12/9/09 at House by Drs. Brackmann/Schwartz. Some hearing left, but got BAHA 2/25/11 (Ponto Pro) To see how I did through my Middle Fossa surgery, click here: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jaylogston

Jay ~

Wow!  Welcome back as a 'postie' and congratulations on what seems to have been a wildly successful surgery!  The tumor vanquished, your hearing saved and no facial issues is a very desirable Trifecta!  Well done!

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Welcome to Postieland!  I looked at the pics and things look pretty good as far as I can tell.  Rest up.. Surgery takes alot out of you and your body..  Use this time well to get plenty of rest.  Great news on the hearing!  Way to go!

Jay,

Congratulations -- sounds as though you absolutely came through with flying colors!

I enjoyed looking at your pictures -- all of them brought back memories of my stay at House, especially the "HOLLYWOOD" sign, which was visible from my hospital room, too. Having seen pictures of that sign all my life, it's interesting to think that it now has a totally different connotation for all of us who've looked at it through a hospital window.

Hope your recovery continues to proceed smoothly and that you'll soon be back to your regular routine. Don't forget to rest when your body tells you to.

Wow!  Hearing still intact, no facial paralysis, and tumor entirely gone - you can't get much better than that!  ;D

Congratulations, Jay!

Good to see you back on the Forum.

Jay .....

Missed this the other day ..... congratulations on a perfect outcome!  Because you did so well, be careful not to overdo too quickly ..... your body has just undergone a major trauma and still needs to rest and recover.

Best thoughts for a continuing super recovery!

Woohoo, Jay, that is fabulous news!  Brackmann is definitely on a roll this fall!  You, too, can be riding a bike soon (just ask Mike/loosescrew!)  Remember to rest up in these beginning days and happy, happy holidays and recovery.  Welcome to postie land!
