The girls lost the championship game by four points to a team that they beat in our home tournament and in the first round at last year's state tournament. This year it was their turn. The Lady Tigers played a tough game and stayed in it until the very end without giving up. And second in a state tournament is pretty darn good, I must say.
Some of you may remember that my brother-in-law passed away in an automobile accident just before the national tournament last year. He was an avid basketball fan, and attended several of Elbee's games. He had a phenomenal capacity for remembering who, on either team, scored how may points or had so many fouls or did this well or that poorly. He gave me a very nice card to thank me for taking care of my mother-in-law after my father-in-law passed away (just a few months before Tony did), including a gift card to a restaurant. I redeemed it today to take Elbee out for a celebration dinner. Tony would have been proud to treat her to dinner on this occasion.
So here's to the Lady Tigers, and here's to Uncle Tony, one of Elbee's biggest fans.
Hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend. I sure did, even though I have a bad case of bleacher butt!
