Can someone show me the evidence that we cannot pick our own doctor- in the health bill?
The
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act ('ObamaCare') requires that Americans buying through the insurance 'exchanges' -- and that will soon be most of us not already in Medicare -- must get their care through something called “
medical home.†Medical home is similar to an HMO. You’re
assigned a primary care doctor, and the doctor controls your access to specialists. The
primary care physicians will decide which services, like MRIs and other diagnostic scans, are best for you, and will decide when you really need to see a cardiologists or orthopedists. One mitigating factor: as far as I can tell, paying cash (
gasp) for physician services is not (
yet) prohibited under the new law, which would allow a patient to chose his/her doctor.
I'm sure there will be many articles coming out in the next few months that will break down the exact terms of 'ObamaCare' and expand our understanding of what was in the 2,000 + pages of the controversial bill. I can hardly wait.
