Yes static...However I just thought it was because I was type 2 diabetic before surgery.  Decadron affects your blood sugar levels and I too had to have insulin a few times while in the hospital.  Funny after I came home I was still on decadron and checking blood sugars and I was fine.  Wonder what changed?  maybe the dose?

I don't remember taking the steroids before surgery, but definitely afterwards.  If you are prone to having diabetes, (ie family history, over-weight, etc) this can happen to you while taking Decadron or other types of high doses of steroids.  I was told this helps to reduce swelling in the brain while you are recovering.

No steroids at anytime, before or after surgery.

I received Decadron after surgery and then tapered off 4 days after release from hospital.

I had the generic decadron after GK and tapered off for 7 days afterwards.  I would certainly ask your doctor about it. I'd rather take steroids for a week or so, if it helps prevent swelling and problems associated with that.

I took a steriod for a short period of time with my first tumor-I believe around 10 days.  I was told that it would be effective at reducing additional tumor growth between my date of diagnosis and my surgery in 10 days or so.  I was also told that it was not recommended to be on that steriod for an extended period of time.

Hope that helps..
