BAHA surgeons - recommendations needed
« on: April 26, 2010, 10:06:38 am »
I live in Central New Jersey.  Has anyone had their BAHA surgery with a surgeon in the NY, NJ, PA area?

Thanks.

You can go to the Cochlear website to search for a doctor that performs the BAHA surgery.  I can't recommend one in particular, but I'm sure there are many in that area that perform the surgery.  Here's a link to find a doctor:  http://www.cochlearamericas.com/Support/find_clinic_search.asp.

Great suggestion from Pooter.

The Cochlear website has lots of info.

Other than that, you might want to PM Wendy (wendysig) or Lauren (ombrerose4).  They both have BAHAs and are in the area you mention.

There are others too, Wendy and Lauren are just the two who come to mind.

Retrosig 5/31/07 Drs. Battista & Kazan (Hinsdale, Illinois)
Left AN 3.0 cm (1.5 cm @ diagnosis 6 wks prior) SSD. BAHA implant 3/4/08 (Dr. Battista) Divino 6/4/08  BP100 4/2010 BAHA 5 8/2015

I don't actually "make" trouble..just kind of attract it, fine tune it, and apply it in new and exciting ways

My doctor does them at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.   His name is Dr. John Niparko.

I had BAHA surgery at the NY Eye and Ear in January 2000 and loved my surgeon, Dr. Choe, who also performed my AN surgery and is, in my opinion, one of the best.   His name is Won-Taek Choe and he is with ENT and Allergy, LLC.  They have an office in Englewood, NJ but he does the surgery in Manhattan at either NYEE or Mount Sinai.  .  He was also Ombrerose's surgeon for both procedures.  Here is a link with contact information for him.

I went to a Dr. Selesnick at NY Hospital Cornell Weill at East 70th St. for my first opinion back in Nov.   I don't know if he does BAHA, but his office would know who does.  If you google his name, it will come up.   He is a member of ANAUSA.

Good luck!
