I'll be thinking of you and your Son Jo. I was in the forces back in the day. I just missed Desert Storm by a few months. It's kind of funny how I felt I should have been there. The motivation to be with your peers I guess.

I'll keep him in my thoughts. What's his first name?

Jo,

Like many other Mothers, my heart and prayers will be with you and your son and his safe return. My son and daughter were both Marines and husband was Army so I know what you are feeling. I will definitely hold you and your son and all of our military up in my daily prayers as I have been doing for a long time.
May you have peace and comfort knowing that we care,
Jackie in Oregon

Jo ~

When you communicate with your son, please let him know that a majority of Americans realize that we owe our military men and women a debt of gratitude that words can't fully express.  I believe the U.S. military is, basically, all that stands between chaos and some sense of order and stability in the world.  Others may disagree and a very few misguided souls will actually vilify the U.S. military but for the vast majority of Americans, we respect and are proud to honor military personnel voluntarily fighting for freedom in far-off, dangerous lands.  Your son is a special person to more than just his mom, and of course, he'll be in my prayers and those of many others.  It's the least we can do.  May he stay safe and return unharmed.

Jim

4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Joann,

Mine is a proud Canadian military family as well.  My father fought in WW 2 and my two old brothers were both army men.  My second oldest was all over the Middle East as a peace keeper.  He made a career out of it and retired in the early 80's.

Afghanistan and a second tour of duty at that.  He is a brave man and you are a very special mother and woman.
