Gee Neal...that sounded pretty condescending!   :-[

K

Any condescension was intended toward the Radio Shack staff who don't know what they sell, not you.  I apologize if it seemed otherwise.

I looked around locally and the only place that had one was my local Radio Shack too.   Of course I had to find it myself because they didn't know what I was talking about either.    I ended up getting the one they had, but personally don't like it because it was cheap and hard....actually hurt my ear to use.

I like the looks of the other ones on this post.   I may have to order one...thanks :-)    Honestly I hate my SSD SO much that I am very sensitive of my good ear now and a bit nervous of using any earbud.  But, I'm sure I will use it because I really like my MP3 player.   I will just be SURE to keep it low  :)

Funny you should mention that Denise. For years I was also so very protective of my good ear. That all ended after open heart surgery and later, brain surgery to remove my monster AN. I found that I had larger issues to deal with. I'm still protective of my ear, but can't help turning up the volume on my right ear-bud when I listen to my favorite Deep Purple and Black Sabbath cuts from when I was a young guy back in the early 70's.

Certainly is a valid concern we all should share! Thanks for highlighting that.

Take Care!

Hey I'm about nine days post op and lost all the hearing in my AN ear, which is my right ear.  I'm actually happy about it, I'm a singer and something, I assumed the neroma had caused the hearing in my right ear to get messed up so my pitch was off, well now that I can't hear in my right ear my perfect pitch is back.  I am looking for SS headphones, but I HATE earbuds, they just hurt my ears for whatever reason, does anyone know if they make them as clip ons?

Eryn .....

Welcome to this forum!

I do not know anything about clip on earphones.  I just received my ScanSound one (earbud) and ordered it with a choice of ear pads to try for the most comfortable one.  Found one that works well and I am enjoying it.

Just wanted to comment on the singing.  I am a singer, as well.  All of my conscious life, prior to my AN surgery, I had perfect pitch.  Following surgery I have almost 20% hearing in the AN ear, 100% in the non-AN ear.  For many months after surgery my brain was perceiving the pitch in my AN ear as a about a quarter step off from my good ear.  This resulted in everything sounding perpetually out of tune and my pitch perception was totally disoriented.  My brain has gradually adapted to the pitch difference, but I no longer consistently have perfect pitch ..... drives my nuts at times because I have had to relearn how to read music by intervals and not by just knowing what the pitches are ..... very frustrating.  Fortunately I had many, many years of enjoyment singing ..... and still do, just in a different way.

Best wishes.

hi Clarice,

I'm sorry to hear about your pitch, I'm happy that mine is back to being good.  I went to a best buy and spoke to an audio specialist who isn't really a specialist but I'll humor them.  What they told me was I should invest in some headphones that are made for DJ's, because while DJ's mix they usually have one of the headphones off so they need to be able to listen to everything through one headphone so if they are DJ quality headphones all sound will play through both phones, it was interesting and makes headphone shopping a bit easier.

Eryn .....

Using a DJ's headphone makes some sense, but you would still only be hearing one channel of stereo sound.  The single stereo earbud runs both channels through one earbud.  It all depends upon what type of music it is and how it was recorded as to whether it would be important to you or not.  As we have said, with only one hearing ear it is impossible to have true stereo.  However, if both channels feed into one ear at least you have all of the recorded sounds.

That may not make sense to anyone with full hearing .....   ???
