Hearing aid dead, and I'm whining
« on: May 24, 2010, 08:09:09 am »
I KNEW my hearing aid battery was dying last night, and thought this morning I needed to remember to bring a new one with me to work.  But, of course, I didn't.  Now my battery is dead, and I'm partially deaf in my bad ear. And, to make matters worse, without my hearing aid I'm much more aware of AN symptoms (tinnitus, other weird sounds/sensations in my head).

This is frustrating and annoying.  I feel stupid posting about this, because I know lots of you are SSD and must have to live like this and worse lots of the time.   Just venting!

I'll turn on my music, because background noise helps some.  Gotta put more batteries everywhere - office, purse, car, home . . .

I can imagine how frustrating it is!  I've learned to keep batteries and eye drops all over the place - car, purse, beach bag, husband's car, coat pockets.  Someday I'll have to put them all in one place and see how big a pile I have!

On the bright side, you won't have to listen to any co-workers today!   ;)

Oh, I can identify with batteries!  Like Lori, I have spare batteries all over the place.  ..... and I agree, the tinnitus is much worse when not wearing the hearing aid.

I have had fluid behind my eardrum for several weeks now, which further reduced my hearing and between that and some wax, it was causing terrible feedback.  Thus I have not been able to use my hearing aid and the tinnitus has really cranked up, making it even harder to hear out of my good ear.  Hopefully this third round of a steroid countdown will do the trick and I can go back to using the hearing aid.  It is so isolating to miss half of what is said in a group setting.

Keep those batteries handy ..... :-*

Glove compartment of the car. It is rare that I am far away from my car. I don't worry about having them anywhere else.  :)

I, too, keep spare batteries everywhere.  In my purse, on my desk at work, at home, etc.

It's so frustrating when my BAHA battery is dead  :(

::) I actually forgot to wear my hearing aids completely today.  The funny thing is I didn't even realize it until I got half way to work.  Oh well!  I'm new at this.  I need to find a place to put the extra batteries as well.  Thanks for the heads up on that! ;)

I have a little soft container that I always keep in the pocket of my purse with batteries, wax guards,  and ear molds.  I've used that more than you know.  i also always carry an earplug for my AN ear.  used the the other night at a school music function.

Yes, an alarm went off at work the other day, and it was intolerably loud.  I wished I had earplugs handy then.  Will have to remember  to bring a few sets to work.

The glove compartment might be a bad place because the car gets really hot and the heat is bad for the battery life.
