Punctal Occlusion
« on: June 10, 2010, 07:23:13 am »
I'm a month out of having the punctal occlusion procedure. Went for my check up this week. Plug is still in and working great.  I highly recommend this procedure for the dry eye!
God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and Wisdom to know the difference.

Great news!  I'm sure it feels much better!  I had my tear ducts cauterized instead of the plugs, but same result.  It was such a relief to not have that sandpaper-in-the-eye feeling anymore!

I have had plugs in for the last few months. They work great, only use eyedrops at night before bed. The only problem I've developed with the plugs is that my eye tears whenever I am eating. So I have to eat and dab, lol! But I still cry only from one eye :)

It's so funny how I needed a tube to get rid of my tears that just sat on my eyelid & dropped onto my cheek,  & others who have needed to plug up there tear duct so the tears form to keep their eyes moist !  My 'tears' were a nuisance as they did not 'lubricate' my eye due to my paralysis - just sat on my lower lid & fell on my face...

Thanks for the idea, another thing to maybe add to my list of questions for my oculoplastic surgeon!
Did you have your face nerve cut? I did and my eye is dry so I'm always putting in ointment. I don't even bother with the drops, except to irrigate the goo out from the night before ointment  ::)
