Donnalynn,
Sorry to chime in so late here - I've been out of town. However, a little birdie told me you were in need of some extra prayers a few days before I left town, so although I didn't know why you needed extra prayers, you got 'em anyway!
First of all, I hope the doctor can get to the bottom of this and get things back in proper working order for poor Jim. I'm sure he's sick of being sick! And second of all, I'm just so amazed at how any hospital can turn away a patient in his condition! That is unbelievable that they can do that! I get the full bed thing, but I think I would have people start sleeping on the desk in the nurses station before I'd send them home with a blood clot! I'd say to come here, but we don't have any decent hospitals in Virginia Beach either. You need to go to the big cities - all the ones mentioned earlier are good ones.
As far as the filter Moe mentioned, the docs used them all the time when I worked in the hospital - they used Greenfield filters, which may be different than what Moe was talking about, but I doubt it. They always seemed to have good luck with them. It did require lifelong anticoagulants, but at a much lower dose than you'd get for the acute stages.
Keep taking those nice firemen up on their offers of help and stay well rested. Keep us posted and give me a call anytime.
Hugs to the family!
Lori
