I've been diagnosed with a 2.9 AN on my left side. Doctors looked confused when I described one of my symptoms. A lot of times when I stand from sitting I feel like my head fills up. I can feel painful pressure in my head and hear a whooshing sound in my ear that muffles my hearing - on both sides.
Has anyone else had this symptom? Was it realted to you AN? Did it get better after treatment?
Thanks.
Jean
Hello Jean,
Welcome to the forum, so sorry you have an AN.
I too had the pressure and whooshing (in since with my heart rate) . Does it subside relatively quickly if you sit back down? Mine did. These were the symptoms that drove me to the doctor in the first place. I was diagnosed with migraine, as my pressure and whooshing was accompanied by bright scintilating scotoma if I didn't sit down within a few seconds.
My doctors and especially my surgeons told me they'd never heard of these symptoms associated to AN prior. Dr Akagami also was not familiar but did tell me that mass effect on the brain can do many things. He suggested I wait until after the surgery to see if the symptoms persisted, and then pursue treatment if they didn't. For me I have had only one minor bout since my surgery in July. That happened about 7 days after the surgery.
My tumour was around 3cm and was pushing on the brain stem.
All the best to you, email or PM if you want to talk more.
Nikki
