Headache Clinics? Anyone.....Anyone....?
« on: June 01, 2006, 11:13:30 am »
Anybody have experience at any headache clinics in any major cities? Maybe we could get a list started for those of us who are trying to find a solution to these buggers and get our lives back!

Here is a site you might be interested in that provides some insights into what a headache clinic does and the qualifications of the docs. This is the one I go to. It is at a large regional medical center (hospital)  in Seattle and is part of their neuroscience department.

I've noticed some universities with medical schools have headache clinics within their hospitals too.

To find one in your area, try Googling a large hospital or a university with a med school. Then hit on neurology or neuro-science department or specialty and see if they have a headache clinic. There are lots of neurologist, but only a few that specialize in headache treatment.

I know there are some smaller "for profit" clinics that specialize in headache treatment. I don't know much about them or know anyone that has gone to or worked for them. They could be fine. A lot depends on the doctor. I would be leary of a headache center that introduced narcotics as a main treatment.

Confirmed the Headache Clinic at Faulkner Hospital here in Boston. My neurosurgeon wanted me to go there at same time of my decision making process... treatment came around too fast so haven't gone yet.
