No more tumor!
« on: May 12, 2011, 09:27:50 pm »
I went for my 3 month post op (translab) today.  The pre-op MRI showed a golf ball sized tumor and the MRI from today showed no tumor.  The radiologists comment was "exquisite extraction".  After 1 and a half years and three surgeries I can finally say "I don't have a tumor".  As Jerry Garcia would say, "What a long, strange trip it has been".

Yes, I still have significant facial weakness, deafness in my left ear and balance issues but No more tumor.  For anyone starting this journey remember that eliminating the tumor is the ultimate goal.

What a relief! You have been through a lot so this news is great. As you know the rest of the issues do get better with time.

Tim ~

Allright!!!  ;D  We celebrate you now being tumor-free!  Thanks for sharing the great news.

Jim
4.5 cm AN diagnosed 5/06.  Retrosigmoid surgery 6/06.  Follow-up FSR completed 10/06.  Tumor shrinkage & necrosis noted on last MRI.  Life is good.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be. It's the way it is.  The way we cope with it is what makes the difference.

Hey Tim, Arnold Schwarzeneggar would be proud of you (The "No more tumor" line there...if no one knows what I mean, watch Kindergarten Cop!).  But seriously, it does feel good, puts things in perspective! I hope your lagging symptoms will disappear in time, then you'll be good as gold! Take care and keep us updated!

Congratulations Tim.
As I search to find my way to deal with this AN in my head, I applaud anyone who has come through it.  Maybe I'll be one of the lucky ones who stays W+W for life but, if past experiences is any indication of future performance, I need all the Tim's I can find for inspiration.
Thank you for your strength in dealing with this so bravely and sharing it with us.

Thank you all for your kind comments.  I only wish I had explored the site 18 months ago.  The forum has not only provided me with valuable information but also courage and self confidence.  There are many side effects that are not revealed to patients by the providers but are covered in the forum.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Great news, Tim!  I agree with Jay - now you can say "It's not a toomah!"

Chris
Diagnosed with 21x16x16 mm AN in December 2010.  No change in June 2011 nor in January 2012.  No major symptoms - tinnitus, some fullness in left ear but no hearing loss or other symptoms.
Firmly in the W&W camp for now.
